Flowers for my grandparent's 50th Wedding Anniversary

Here are the flowers I put together for my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary. Mum asked me to try and replicate Granny's wedding bouquet, and I used the left over flowers to make a corsage and buttonhole.

The flowers used were white carnations, pink spray carnations, blue hyacinth pips, september flower, pink tulips, and leather leaf.

I really enjoyed wiring up all the hyacinth pips, and I think that the finished objects came out really well. Hopefully my mum will email me with her much better photos!

Day One: Ten things you want to say to ten different people
Day Two: Nine things about yourself
Day Three: Eight ways to win your heart
Day Four: Seven things that cross your mind a lot
Day Five: Six things you wish you’d never done
Day Six: Five people who mean a lot
Day Seven: Four turn-offs
Day Eight: Three turn-ons
Day Nine: Two images that describe your life right now, and why
Day Ten: One confession

A confession.

No one said this was going to be 10 consecutive days.

That could be my confession alone, but I think that would be cheating.

I would like to confess to not feeling myself at the moment. So if you've seen me zoning out when you're talking, or acting oddly, I apologise. Sometimes the black dog appears and you can't fight him off for a bit.

1. I love being in a silent house. It makes me feel calm and still, and I will knit or read in peace.

2. I have read 6 books in the last month.

3. Much as it pains my rational, liberal, Church of England self, I often experience God in a supernatural, charismatic way.

4. I have designs on being Barbara from the Good Life, but worry I would be too lazy to actually be self sufficent. And no, I don't have the dungarees yet.

5. Happiness for me is a house full of friends and family, sat at our table, waiting for our food, talking, arguing and laughing.

6. I have itchy feet. I get bored of places quickly and I want to see new ones. Yet, I never seem to actually go anywhere.

7. I know how to do some odd things. Make a bra out of duct tape, and how to make fizzy jelly being two of them.

8. Libraries, and art galleries, and museums can feel as cosy as my home to me.

9.  I can't sleep unless Tom is in the bed these days.

Lent 1

So it is lent. Where Christians all over the world trace the story of Jesus as he walks towards death and resurection.

Lent is this huge thing isn't it? The penitance, Oh Aren't I sinner, let me give some thing up to show how sorry I am.

It seems so destructive doesn't. And I suppose we all have to die a but, become Little Christs as the lovely Ann of www.aholyexperience.com puts it.

I believe God is love. A loving God surely doesn't want miserable children? In my practice of Lent I try and take something up, as the old stories reveal to me again something of the nature of Christ.

Christ in his journey to the cross shows faithfulness to God's will, even when it's hard. He shows love and mercy, even while he is on the cross.

So again, I'm going to try taking up prayer for Lent, being faithful to something daily. I will try doubly hard to walk humbly show love and mercy.

I abandon myself into your hands.

Do with me whatever you will.

Whatever you may do I thank you.

I am ready for all, I accept all.

Let only your will be done in me and all your creatures.

I wish no more than this, O Lord.

Into your hands I commend my soul.

I offer it to you with all the love of my heart.

For I love you Lord and so need to give myself,

surrender myself into your hands without

reserve and with boundless confidence

for you are my Father.

Amen

Gardening

I must be a grown up because I willingly went in the garden today and gardened.

I asked to go to a garden centre.

There is such joy in bending down to the earth, feeling the warmth of
the soil, and seeing worms and centipedes wiggling.

We have cleared our beds and pots of last years dead growth, and
planted the first crop of seeds. Bought tiny seedlings in tiny pots
and replanted them in possible future homes. The plastic miniature
green house has it's fleecy jacket on, and the warmth inside is
amazing. We've got tomatoes, aubergines, cauliflower, carrots,
lettuce, leaves, herbs and flowers all planted up, with a plan on
everything else to plant.

I can't wait to see things grow. This year I've planted more flowers
so that I can cut them and use them for floral arrangements. And the
garden looks so much nicer with the beds all turned over and ready to
go!

What I need to hear today.

25 -->

Do Not Worry

25?????Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink,* or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?26Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?27And can any of you by worrying add a single hour to your span of life?*28And why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin,29yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these.30But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you???you of little faith?31Therefore do not worry, saying, ???What will we eat???? or ???What will we drink???? or ???What will we wear????32For it is the Gentiles who strive for all these things; and indeed your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.33But strive first for the kingdom of God* and his* righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

34?????So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring worries of its own. Today???s trouble is enough for today.

What I need to hear today.

o/ - How I feel while you're here

When you sit there, biting your fingers and eyes scanning websites, I
sigh a little. You're smiling, at the funny words emanating from the
telly and then again you're inside the words on services, ceremony,
church gossip and news.

It is a strange place to be, over here, away looking over at you as a
casual observer. Your curls are tumble down from a day around and
about. There are bags under your eyes from sleepless fitful nights of
worry.

And then I can be me again, the me who sees all your loveliness and
all your flaws again. Today, despite failing at my driving test being
a huge bummer, you made me smile and laugh and dancing about in a
supermarket, we chose seeds for this years vegetable garden. Maybe
tomorrow we will plant them and wonder at what we can grow together.
