Christmas Times Two

Whirlwind!

I have cooked meat and roasties for 12, be-birthdayed the bf, and done Christmas with my closest friends.

I also have stress spots, a burn on my forearm and I'm going to Northern Ireland tomorrow for Christmas.

To keep me sane and to fill the gaps in between doing my Latin assignment and missing Chris, I am knitting a short black cardi, much like the ones Nigella Lawson wears in her near pornographic cookery programme. It's a butchered version of Candy from knitty.com, but without the stripes. I shall not take pics as it is black and therefore dull.

Now for the last few days in pictures.

This is the Joy in Meat form that is the Big George Kebab, described in detail in this post.

The gorgeous tree at the lads's house, with loads of lovely pressies underneath and decorations by Asda Smartprice, though you'd never know. It looks so lovely in real life!

The chicken and the HUGE turkey drumstick for my Christmas meal. There was also Roast Pork, but after the two shots I have on here, things got a bit hectic and I soon forgot about my camera. I did manage to stuff 12 people in my living room as well which I think is impressive.

Here is my housemate Matt, looking proud of the huge amount of potatoes he had peeled. He taught me this ace way of fluffing potatoes with a fork post boil but pre roast that meant they were uber crispy. HUGE thanks should go to Matt as he was really helpful with all the cooking and getting things ready for the party on Sat, and I think a good time was had by all. I especially enjoyed Marv's candied yams, and Amy's key lime pie.

This is me trying to capture just how pretty the tree was, but sans flash. As you can see I have shaky hands...

Then came Birthdaying the bf on the Sunday! Here is Chris with the quilt I made over the summer. It feature tortoise applique as tortoises are his fave animal. Fortunately he liked it.

Chris, you really need to name this cow! It's one of those Cushtie pillows and uber soft.

I love me this moo cow! If Chris should ever disown it, its coming to live with me.

Here is my darling Amy, of key lime pie fame. Have I mentioned her before? She lived across from me in halls, and I love her. She's orgininally from Wiltshire too and is studying Occupational Therapy. She's also one of the few girls who I've ever really clicked with and consider a close friend. For some reason that doesn't happen very often. Anyway, she bought Chris a fantastic birthday present which I will document below....

Chris (the other one) and Amy like to play with black rubber...this present involved alot of blowing...

...Amy looking relatively glam whilst blowing...

...Me failing miserably...

...all so Chris could be a Gladiator. Then we popped the head of one giant cottonbud and fighting had to cease.

There was birthday caking for Amy, (her birthday was last week remember...;-)) and for Chris. He had the very boyish blue nosed bear one as Amy wanted the chocolate. I have some fantastic memories of Amy and I eating all the choc off this cake as we played Articulate and whipped the boy's proverbial asses.

Not so shiny Alex

Blergh.

This is the nitty gritty, awake in the middle of the night, entry.

I have been poorly [TMI in the explosive manner] and missed all my end of term lectures. This made me cross and feel more wretched than normal. May I mention here, Chris surpassed himself, coming to my aid with loo roll, crackers, bottled water, nourishing soup, a paper and his lovely self to help bring me back to the living. I only hope I did not interfer too much with his coursework. I felt rough enough to cry with relief when he came through the door and held me close. I also felt guilty. True I had done the same amount of nursing when he had food poisoning, but I have this fear of taking things from people. Food, money, kindness, time. It meant such alot to me to have him play the knight in shining armour, and having him stroke my head whilst I squirmed in pain. He's such a comforting presence, he really is. I shall have to find an appropriate way to thank him.

My sleeping pattern is officially shot to hell as I've slept at least 18 hours out of the last 36, culminating in me waking at 1am last night, then going to sleep again at 5am. I woke up today at 3pm thus the awakeness now. Damn! Though in these late nights I get alot of writing done, and I am pleased to say there are 1000 words out of 4000 on my Old Testament essay backed up on Gmail.

As for knitting, all the Christmas stuff is done, from rediculous toys for my Chris to fingerless gloves for my sister. I do have one penguin to seam up. Unfortunately I left my camera at Chris' house so pics when I can. I have one sock left to knit in the lovely Regia I bought in Amsterdam, but that will be my knitting whilst doing Christmas in Ireland knitting.

I now need to decide on what projects to persue next. I have a cone of pink cobweb yarn, that could become a shawl or a small lacey cardigan. I shall look around for a pattern I can adapt.

I feel very angsty at the moment. Due to some stupidity on my part, regarding banks and not knowing which account had the authorised overdraft I can use whenever, I have some money worries. Nothing too alarming, just means treats are limited at the moment. I think after. Christmas I should be ok as long as I'm strict on my budget again.

***Edit*** Lori recieved my parcel of baby goodies. Check out the pics here.

Debauched in all the right ways...

A whirl of social activities has beset me...

I am small and useful as an armrest. Especially when tall ECS people are around.

The dress is a finished and gorgeous one, with only one person calling me ridiculous. However, it is shy and doesn't like being photographed. I shall whip it into shape another day.

Two of my best mates finally got it together! YAY!

My bf is hawt!

...And I am a Christmas fairy thanks to open source photoeditting software.
