A very Happy Easter to you all....

I hope the English blog-sphere is enjoying the 4 day weekend the powers that be give us over the Easter Weekend.

I'm on Easter Holiday, or what will be renamed next year Spring Holiday, much in the way the Americans have Spring Break. This is due to school authoritis moving to a six term school year. Shorter summer holidays, longer half terms, and a fixed 'Easter/Spring' Holiday, to avoid incredibly short terms at spring time. I can't make up my mind as to whether it's a good idea or not. 4 weeks does not seem a long enough break for children to shake school out of their system before being chucked back into the sea of learning. But for working parentals, it might be a boon, as they would no longer have to find childcare for six weeks. That too is a double bladed sword, as they'd have to find extra time in Feb and Oct instead.

It won't really bother me after, as I'll be at uni, and really you're never there at uni anyway are you?

We had our Easter Service yesterday at church. Lots of songs talking about empty tombs and cleansing, saving blood. Rob's mum, or the MILTB preached on people forgetting exactly what happenned at Easter, using the Road to Emmaus section of Luke 24, how we become like Cleopas and focus on our own sadness and shortcomings and do not live as if Jesus has risen. Though I found part of the message challenging, the' You get excited part, you can run around church no one will stop you bit' Yes no one will stop us, and we could, but I felt like I was being subtly told to do that. What if I have a another way of rejoicing?

After the service I did the dutiful fiancée bit and tidied up the cables and mike stand and the sound desk, as Rob was rushing off to football and I didn't want him to be late. I also did sound as the sound man for yesterday had just become a grandfather to twins and so understandbly wasn't at church. I find doing sound really hard sometimes as I find it difficult to distinguish between sounds. I'd be hopeless trying to tune a guitar. But it's useful that I help out, so that's why I'm learning. Besides Rob's always around to gesture wildly if Iget terrrible feedback or something.

I went home to Roast chicken and veg, and chocolate puddle pudding, that my sister makes like a star and is to die for hot or cold. Then I had to hunt round the garden for my easter eggs, as we've always done. As everyone knew I've been watching my weight I recieved nice small ones that won't do too much damage. The little programme I made up for my self has work a treat. I've lost a stone and then a little. What I've been doing, is eating really carefully for 3 weeks a month, and then when it's the wrong time of the month, when choclate is not only a delicious foodstuff, but a mood altering necessary drug, I am allowed to eat what I like when. It's a good incentive to put that biscuit back in the cupboard when you know you'll be able to eat what ever you like in three weeks time or whatever.

At Rob's in the afternoon I ended up with another Roast dinner thoug I ate considerably less, and we had jam roly poly with maple chocolate sauce at 9pm when we were watching Troy. Iwas treating my slef to quick knit yesterday of fine gauge pink wool I bought on the cone at a charity shop on 2.75mm making up a lace pattern as I go. I think it's going to be a neckerchief with rose leaf lace from www.knitting-and.com

Troy is one of those good films for talking and watching at the same time. Rob and I had a nice chat, about film related and other wise topics with out everloosing the plot. Whther or not that makes Troy a bad film or not I don't know. I like the fight scenes!

A knitting update...

Here is one of the things I've been working on recently.

A pair of pink stripy leg warmers, with graduated shaping to fit muscley dancers legs, and a tiny bit of pattern. Knit on 3mm double points with DK cheap pink acrylic yarn from the local super market.

And a random picture of me.

Hilarious Mime Routine

Hilarious Mime Routine

Just go check it out. I nealry wet myself.

So and now the end is near...

I've faced the final curtain.

Apart from misquoting Sinatra...

Bugsy is finished. I've never been less proud of a performance. Matravers managed to pull it out of the bag on the night, but that's not a professional way to work, is it? We started rehearsing too late, in fact we've put on a full scale musical in about a month. Students and teahcers were pulled of timetable to rehearse. But it's over now and the sudiences though it was wonderufl. Which at the end of the day is what counts.

I've been ill, with achey limbs and headaches and sleep deprivation. In fact yesterday I slept from 11pm to 8am, and then from 9am to 3 pm. I feel like I could do with another few hours.

I managed to write up the aforeposted french coursework in record time, and so am incredibly proud. I think it's a nice bit of social commentry for a less than perfect french speaker. This leaves me with history coursework and a dance essay to do for next week. I should be fine.

As for knitting? Well I've started a boob holder from Glampyre in red acrylic that I'm going to modify by adding long sleeves and a body section in either 2x2 or 1x1 rib. I might put a cable in somewhere, or try a spiral rib.

Now can anyone think of a good title for this?

Mentally applauds self.

I got a B I got a B I got a B I got a B!

*imagine that said really really fast*

I'm a happy bunny, God has nicely saved my day from being a traumatised whirl of a day where I was told to F*** off by a certain person lots. I got a B on my french retake. This was the exam where I got an E last time. So I've gone from a E at 34 points to a B at 70:), I only needed 4 more points or something equally small to raise my entire grade from a C to B...I got them yeah!!! That leaves me with 3 A's and possibly an A or a B in french.

Happy Happy Alex.

And kudos and hugs to Sarahbean who got all A's on her retakes and modules and now posesses a nice set of A's!

But with all this excitement I manages to mess up mylace pattern in my lacy scarf, so I'm off to frog a few rows....:-(

Out of the rain

and in the warm and dry.

Please would everyone say yay because Alex as got bored of being miserable. I saw how miserable I was making Rob by being miserable after a huge msna nd phone conversation and decided to snap out of it sharpish.

I have made my sock and nearly finished it's pair but it has the first one has unfortunately gone missing! The great sock hunt has started.

School is going well now... after some scary hairy moments, my choreography is back on track and should be good. I just have to pull out a few bits of something special.

Now does anyone have any awkward questions they'd like to ask? Are you nosy?

On the most horrible of days.

Overheard in my awful dance rehearsal.

J - intelligent, witty, beeyootiful, indie guy- "If you ate curved sausages would they taste like bananas?"

S - black wearing, gorgeous, huggable, acidic girl- " No, they'd just taste curvy."

THAT HAS BEEN QUITE LITERALLY THE HIGHLIGHT OF MY DAY SO FAR.

I don't want to talk about it. I'm knitting a sock. My first whole sock. In Green. With a tiny cable, being cabled with out a cable needle. And I can do millenery.

Rob please come do your knight in shining armour bit and rescue me!
